Based on other cases that came to light during analysis, I propose an origin in two separate roots that through time became nearly phonetically and semantically amalgamated-an interpretation that has much to say for the etymology of NHG Neid itself. The following list is a discography of production by Big K.R.I.T., an American hip hop record producer and recording artist. Finally, a solution is proposed for the confusion of linguists brought on by the apparent Gothic double root. One root itself has the possibility of analysis as a radix departiculativa, and the feasibility of this proposition is discussed. Five roots from Pokorny’s IEW are mentioned and analyzed, then the aforementioned cognates are discussed according to which root they belong to. With all of the linguistic material having been presented, the discussion of possible PIE roots will begin. This word and the relatives in Germanic, Indo-Aryan, Baltic, Greek, and Armenian that it brings with it will also be treated in detail. The Gothic language adds a new perspective to the task of writing an etymology, as it contains a direct cognate of Neid but also another word of similar semantics that is close enough in form that it caused a considerable number of linguists to propose a two-form root that breaks Grimm’s Law. These will be examined in detail with the goal of working towards a PIE root and meaning. There are a number of proposed links in Celtic and Tocharian, even perhaps Italic. Its relatives within the Germanic branch of the IE language family are clear, but cognates with other branches are not as secure. Then I paid my dues and turned so many doubters to believers. Just know that I was once considered just a dreamer. While some words trace easily and quickly back to PIE roots with clear cognates in other languages, Neid is not one of those words. The more you walk with God, the harder it is to scrape your knee. The etymology of NHG Neid “envy” is a complex one.
